I caught up with a business partner recently and for a pleasant change of pace they choose the venue,”a Sports Bar with great food”. Turned out that Pennsylvania 6 is part of the new wave of high end Sports Bars serving Gastropub quality food opening up in NYC. It’s right by right by Penn Station, thus it’s name. Inside it’s a very good looking space that looks like a Steakhouse vs your typical Sports Bar with a good looking friendly staff to match, backed up by very good GastroPub food and service.
We started with some Beer from their great selection(hit link for current menu) on tap. Of note, they are happy to give you samples to try out something new. Of note, they also have a very good selection in bottles and plenty of wine and cocktails to choose from. I had a very good steak sandwich topped with Fontina and greens with a side (huge) of spicy broccoli and my bud the Knickerbocker which is three(3) Waygu sliders topped with Gouda, truffled aioli and caramelized onions. Both came with great homemade kettle chips.
There is a huge screen in the center of the bar flanked by a number of others with flat screens placed strategically throughout. This is a great place to take clients or a girlfriend to watch a game while enjoying far better then your usual Sports Bar fare in a classy setting.
Pennsylvania 6 is located at 132 West 31st Street
