Looking for a new (to me) Chinese spot I came upon Mapo Tofu. While like most Chinese restaurants they have a huge selection…what caught my eye was the Chengdu Wonton soup. Chinatown style wontons (wonton wrappers are thinner and shape is different) outside of Chinatown are fairly rare. These were very good as was the broth they came in with some bitter greens.
For my entree I ordered up Kung Pao Chicken since I like heat and this dish is a pretty good litmus test. Every Chinese restaurant has it…not all get it right. Mapo Tofu nailed it. Portion was good sized with chucks of tasty white meat chicken in a piquant sauce with some heat.
